Lahore Bans Students Bringing Cars and Motorcycles to Schools

The Lahore Education Authority has mandated that school administrators enforce a prohibition on students bringing unlicensed motorcycles and cars to their educational institutions. This decision stems from the challenges posed by underage drivers, which have led to complications for both traffic police and school administrations.

To ensure compliance, school heads have been cautioned about severe repercussions should they fail to implement the directive. Additionally, class in-charges have received specific instructions to dissuade students from bringing their vehicles onto school premises.

In an effort to enhance awareness of traffic laws, school administrators are encouraged to educate students on the importance of adherence. Teachers will proactively reach out to the parents of students who bring cars to school, reinforcing the need for compliance.

These directives align with the ongoing initiative to address the issue of underage driving in Punjab, with a particular focus on the provincial capital. Provincial authorities have initiated a crackdown on underage drivers, resulting in over 19,000 fines issued by the Punjab police in the past week alone.

Furthermore, Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued a stern warning to parents, urging them not to permit their underage children to drive. Dr. Anwar emphasized that strict measures would be taken against parents found in violation of this directive.
